MODULE 4: Mindset for Growth: A discipleship lifestyle
No matter what your movement looks like, or whether you are part of an Organization (NGO), denomination or church structure, you can still have a “movement mindset”. The most important thing is not your organizational structure but your heart and mindset.
At an individual level, we want to foster a discipleship lifestyle in every young Christian. Discipleship is not something that happens once a week. Discipleship is not a volunteer program that you join and dedicate one hour a week. Discipleship flows from the heart and soul of every Christian.
That’s why the Principle of Proximity is so important. Do you remember this principle? Encouraging youth to choose little brothers and sisters that are very close to their homes, or schools, or place of work, will allow them to develop a natural relationship with them.

BIBLE STUDY
In Ezekiel 37, God takes the prophet Ezekiel to a valley of dry bones. God asks Ezekiel, “What do you see"?” But sadly, Ezekiel sees only death and destruction.
God asks Ezekiel to open his eyes and see the vast army God is wanting to raise up. Just as he is asking you.
Do you have eyes to see the vast army God is wanting to raise up? He is already doing it all over the world. Raising up the overlooked, the marginalized and the disempowered. He is raising up young Christians to change their communities. He wants to bring life whereever there is death and destruction!
Ask God for eyes to see. Then ask for the Holy Spirit to come. For without the Holy Spirit, not one heart can be moved or changed.
God commands Ezekiel to call the Holy Spirit from the east and west, the north and the south (v9). In other words, the presence and power of God are ready to raise up a vast army. Join Him in what He is doing.
Questions (need to be revised)
ROLE PLAY ACTIVITY
As you meet with pastors and community leaders, you will find they understand more about NGO’s and organizations than movements. They will ask questions about your legitimacy and credibility based on these assumptions. Role play how you would answer these types of questions. Perhaps there is a local movement you can point to? Take some time to work this out.
