Welcome to the Regional Coordinator Training (Africa) REVIEW PAGE

Eugene, Rachel and Ismaila - this page is for you to review the training and go back over the discussions and questions. Our training together is only just beginning and many of these discussions were preliminary.

Don’t worry - we will be revisiting these concepts time and time again together. We will be holding your hand every step of the way.

Thanks to those who helped facilitate the training: Daroth, Jarod, Suren, Tim, Lakhina, Craig, Reaksmey, Mei and the whole Support Centre team! It was an amazing time.

THE SCHEDULE WAS PACKED

Where are we now?

The first morning at the office we got to know the Support Centre team a bit and shared stories. After lunch we gathered in Daroth’s office to look at the current situation in Africa.

The Vision of Alongsiders

After discussing the various movements across Africa, we spent some time talking about our personal visions, and the vision of Alongsiders. We discussed the Vision Statement of Alongsiders:

  • Every child welcomed

  • Every youth engaged

  • Every church awakened

What does the Vision of Alongsiders mean to you and how does it personally motivate your actions and commitments?

GOING BROADER AND DEEPER

On the second day we discussed our theme for 2023 - DEEPER - and discussed how we want to grow both in numbers and territory as well as in quality and depth. We discussed the principle of Saturation and why we want to have multiple movements in each country.

THE REGIONAL COORDINATOR ROLE

Here is the Role Description for the Regional Coordinator role. What aspects do you think you will find easy and which aspects might you need some help with?

COACH (towards Belonging, Ownership & Mastery)

  1. Mentor, coach, encourage, pray for, and support Movement Coordinators (MC) as they lead and equip their Area Reps, youth and LBS. They are your team and you are their team leader.

  2. Communicate regularly with each MC (weekly, bi-weekly or monthly) according to their preference and needs to foster belonging and a healthy relationship.

  3. Connect and empower MCs to directly access the resources and people they need in the Support Centre and wider movement to ensure they are thriving and have what they need.

  4. Train MCs to engage with and use the tools and processes already available within the movement (e.g. roadmap, flipchart, apps, reports, videos, curriculum)

SUPPORT (towards Mastery & Purpose)

  1. Guide new leaders in your region through the New Partner Onboarding Process to become Movement Coordinators and launch their movement.

  2. Use ASANA and other tools to help follow effective work flows and follow-up processes.

  3. Monitor the monthly updates received from Coordinators and follow-up with encouragement, questions, and support for areas of concerns.

  4. Distribute Starter Packs and/or other Alongsiders materials around your region as needed for new MCs and work with Lakhina to ensure that printing and distribution is accomplished.

GATHER (towards Belonging & Ownership)

  1. Organize and Facilitate regional annual gatherings in conjunction with Alongsiders leadership.

  2. Follow-up and support the MCs who have participated in gatherings to increase accountability, momentum and sustainability of the movement.

  3. Visit MCs in your region as appropriate to encourage and support them as well as build a stronger sense of belonging and relationship.

  4. Talk regularly via Zoom or WhatsApp with Cambodia Support Center and the Africa Coach to foster a healthy flow of communication.

Finance

We discussed how the Finance Team at the Support Centre operates and how the Regional Coordinators will interact with that team. Remember you are a bridge between the Support Centre and the Movements.
